You left it in the plane

There's a pretty strong chance that the cargo was destroyed along with your plane, but you decide to investigate all the same. At least the plane will be easy to find: you can see, in the dark forest to the east, a column of flames that indicates where your Spitfire crashed.

So, with a deep sigh, you head in this direction. It takes you fully half an hour of walking through bushes and branches to reach the crash site. By the time you arrive, the first thing you realize is that there's no use: the Spitfire is reduced to a smoldering mass of red-hot metal, hardly recognizable as a plane. Not a single Sten gun could have survived this crash.

The second thing you realize is that the place is crawling with Germans, who came to investigate the event. They arrest you on the spot, and you spend the rest of the war in a POW camp.
