Wren's soft body sinks into the comforter, and the thick lashes of her eyes flutter open, she almost feels comfortable.
Panic sets in as Wren bolts up remembering where she is before the chain around her ankle causes her to fall down again. As her grey eyes scan the enormous room, relief washes over her as she realizes that Donovan is nowhere to be found.
Across the room, the door softly creaks as the boy from before returns.
"Gabriel," Wren thinks to herself as a warm feeling spreads through her stomach.
Completely clear headed Wren stares up at Gabriel taking in his tall but lean figure, dirty blonde hair and high cheek-bones. The cuffs of his sleeves fall back as he gracefully unlocks the chain around her ankle before laying out a towel as well as some shampoo and soap.
"Mr Harvey would like you to be presentable by the time he returns," Gabriel says, his voice deep and husky.
"Of course he would, the pervert," Wren mutters before picking up the towel.
The side of Gabriel's mouth twitches up before returning to his usual poker face. "There will be a beautician arriving at seven tonight to help you get ready,"
Wren stares into Gabriel's blue eyes, "You do realize that I could spill all the beans to this beautician and be out of here." Although Wren highly doubted that Donovan would be that careless.
Worry flashes over Gabriel's eyes, seeming to debate with himself before turning back to Wren.
"The woman arriving works for him, Wren," He says softly. "Its a test, don't muck it up."
Wren pauses, taking in the information Gabriel has just given her, "Why did you tell me that?" she asks.
Gabriel seems to be having a small war with himself. "No one can stop talking about you, the kitchen hands, the butlers, they're all talking about you." "Donovan is cruel but the girls he brings home are usually kicked out by the morning," he mutters.
Wren sighs, "So I'm the shiny new toy,"
Silence hangs between them before Gabriel starts to walk away. "There's food on the table if you're hungry, I'll be back after the beautician is finished."
Pausing at the door, Gabriel turns back, "Donovan won't be back for the next month, he's on a business trip if that makes you feel any better,"
Wren smiles as the door closes turning to what she assumes, is the shower door.
As the water cascades down Wrens body, she realizes that she was completely naked during her exchange with Gabriel. Reddening, Wren also realized that not once had Gabriel looked on her with lust.
