History
Pokemon is a series of games, where the main basis are creatures known as "Pokemon," and "Pokemon Trainers," who catch and use these creatures for sport. The first games were released in 1996, and now is a very successful franchise. Their latest main Pokemon game were Pokemon Sun and Moon, and is considered the start of the seventh generation of Pokemon games. The franchise's other main thing were Pokemon trading cards, and even now is still alive, with tournaments being held every year.
Games
As I said before, the first games were released in 1996. They were called Pokemon Red and Green, but in North America they were named Pokemon Red and Blue. Accompanying Pokemon Yellow, they were the first generation of Pokemon, with 151 Pokemon, ranging from Pokemon like Dodrio to ones like Snorlax. The three games are set in the region of Kanto, and actual region in Japan.
Next came Pokemon Gold and Silver, and later Pokemon Crystal. These games were held in the region of Johto, which is based off the real-life Japanese region Kansai. They added 100 new Pokemon. They are the second generation of Pokemon.
The third generation composed of five games. The main three were Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and Pokemon Emerald. Pokemon Red and Green were given remakes, called Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. 135 new Pokemon were added. The remakes were simply just an improvement in graphics, and the fixing of glitches. (This getting quite monotonous, so I'll speed through the last 4) Generation 4-Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Pokemon Platinum, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Generation 5-Pokemon Black and White, Pokemon Black2 and White2(First games to not be based in Japan, it's based off of New York City)
Generation 6-Pokemon X and Y, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
Generation 7-Pokemon Sun and Moon, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon(planned to be released in November 2017)
