You're in season again, sigh. Not that it's such a bad thing, but being a single mare in a city that has a sparse population of equines can be frustrating on oh so many levels.

In your mom's day, you would have been part of some stallions harem by now, pushing out foals and keeping an eye out for a younger better provider. Thank god those days are over. Still, the idea of finding a good stud and the support of a small family herd is appealing, equines prefer living in groups after all. Having someone around for a good morning banging when you're in heat has it's advantages. Still, things are pretty good, no regrets, you like your job, mostly, and you can pretty much make your own hours.

Your job as a photographer and copy editor for an in house publication at a small non profit pays well and gives you plenty of free time. It's better than the job as a local reporter in the last town you lived in.

Like most mares, as well as equines in general, sex is approached as a social function. As Daniel once said about equines: "it's meet, greet and screw. For a mare in heat just reverse that order".
