You stay where you are and both the nurse and our mom come back into the room. The nurse accesses you.

"You don't have any internal bleeding which is a relief but, several of your ribs are cracked and your left leg is broken."

Your mom looks at you and whispers "dumbass." The nurse patches you up and soon you're up and out the hospital doors back to the car. Both you and your mother stop and stare at the heavy air between you. You whisper "sorry." And your mom lights up beside you.

"I would hope so. Let's stop on the way home pick up some orange juice. Considering someone drank it all. Again."

You smile widely at her.
