The book starts with a dozen pages of dense rule text which you skip impatiently. It's something about you playing the part of the hero, and how your decisions will decide the fate of the quest, yada yada.
Ah yes, finally! You're given a choice of which hero that will take up the fight against the evil wizard Anraxx... Anrazsk... Damn, do all wizards have unpronounceable names?!
You decide to call him Russki. Whatever.
Now then - which hero do you want to play as?
- Krall Skullsplitter, a hulking brute of a man from the untamed wilderlands
- Joielle the Sorceress, a woman as statuesque as she is mysterious; from unknown lands
- Tamara Knife-Wielder, a slender and agile girl from the crowded citystates
- Princess Argenta, a well-scented soft-skinned lady from the exotic south
