Sneak up and attack?

Your not one for having any such skills in stealth but given what your facing your not sure if a direct charge would work out for the best. Wielding the knife you slowly creep into the shadows of the alley. Its slow going and even worse that you can see the larger figure striking the cowering one over and over but striking out at this distant would probably give the figure enough time to react, slow and steady, slow and steady. Inching up behind the man you think that you don't want to kill him but you can't have him fighting back much, with a simple flip of your knife you send it crashing down upon the back of the figures head and with a muffled grunt they fall sideways onto the slick alley floor. You don't think you killed him but you don't want to be around to find out either way. Reaching down you take a hold of the cowering person as they react with a squeal but your strength is enough to pull them away from the ground and out towards the light of the street.
"Are you ok?" Turning around you take your first glance into the person's face, she's a young woman, probably a few years younger than yourself, wide blue eyes dripping with tears, freckles dots around her cheeks and a locks of brown hair jut out from the hood that covers her head.
Without speaking she gives a quick nod as her eyes cast down to the sidewalk; clearly shes in shock of what happened but at least she's safe... just who was that person? Looking back into the alley you notice that the loped over figure is no longer there; at least he's not dead but there is no way to know where he is now....
"Damn." You scold softly at yourself, its very likely they saw you, god knows who that person was and she doesn't seem much up for talking.
Sighing to yourself as you rub the back of your head you take stock of the situation. A mute girl, being beating but some person, who were they? And more importantly why were they attacking her?
"Ah-choo!" The high pitched whine comes from below as the girl shivers in the damp cold night. You need to get her out of here but where should you go? If that person was dangerous they could be back with a vengeance or maybe your just being paranoid.
