The donut and coffee slaves continue to watch you as you move about the diner and beg for money.

"Could you spare some change?" you ask the fat man.

He manages to get a few words out between scarffing down donuts: "Sorry... mmf.. gots none."

Little bits of frosting and dough fall from his full mouth as he tries to speak without swallowing first.

You try your luck with the couple: "Hi... Could you spare some change?"

"Got nuffin'" the man says while shaking his head. The woman grabs her purse off of the table, gets out her wallet, and hands you $1.23.

You go over to the man with the newspaper and before you can even speak he rebukes you: "I don't give out charity, maybe you shouldn't run around like that with no money."

You look up at the menu for what you order...

Do you:

• Order a small coffee?
• Order a single donut?
• Ask if you can get something to eat, and drink with only $1.23?
