You decide to be merciful. You grab the gun, and two shots later, the criminals are no longer in pain.
You call the police and explain what happened. They come over and question you. Afterwards, they determine no charges will be filed.
Your family gets home right as you finish up with the cops. You weren't necessarily planning to let them know tonight, but seeing how you're dressed, there's no point in keeping it a secret. Your mom is more accepting than your dad. You kind of figured that. Your sister, contacted by phone, giggles. "Yeah, I kind of already suspected."
You sleep away some of the trauma, although the experience will be with you forever,and when you wake up the next morning and go down to breakfast, your dad ignores you (it could have been worse, you think), while your mom smiles at you and your sister offers to take you to her room and give you make-up tips.
