Ramius is surprised. He doesn't seem shocked. You want to get up and run away. However, he restrains you.
It took you to give him some of your American papers for him to believe. He then tells you his harrowing plan: he intends to defect the ship to the Americans. Ramius made that choice when he saw the blueprints of the ship and its only use for destruction. He thus plans to bring it to the United States, along with his officers who are mostly supporting him. Ramius has written a letter to his admiral and uncle Pedora, about his intention to defect. It is a political statement too. There is not much time and the whole Soviet fleet will be after the Red October in hours. It is time to go and act.
He is very relieved you are on. In his wildest dreams, Ramius did not expect an American to be on board. You can help him defect and contact your fellow CIA and American agents once the Red October reaches the Atlantic.
