You rush to cover your exposed chest as the door swings open. Standing in the doorframe is your handmaiden, Celene. She's always been a boisterous young woman, but this is pushing it. You had specifically requested she not attend to you tonight, but here is anyway, bounding in as always, clueless as to her surroundings. She seems to care little that she caught you in a state of undress. She has seen you this way countless times over the few years she has been your handmaid, but all the same, you feel embarrassed. Your cheeks turn red as she laughs.
"Sorry, Your Highness," she says. "You looked a bit gloomy, so I came to see if I could cheer you up. Didn't mean to catch you like this."
"Just close the door," you tell her.
Celene does as she is told. Quickly, she comes to your side and begins helping you out of the rest of your clothes. While it is her job to do so and she's done it many times, today you feel different about it. You had expected privacy and to be alone with your thoughts. Still, this isn't too bad. Celene is one of your closest friends. Perhaps that's exactly what you need right now.
