Guide the clerk away from the scene and comfort her

You put your arm around the clerk's slim shoulders and walk her away from the man's dead body. You take her to a quiet alcove and draw her body against yours, placing her head against your upper chest. "I'm sorry you had to see that," you whisper. "It's all right. It's done and over with."
The clerk starts, slowly, to calm down. You caress her cheek. "I..." she whispers. "I never thought..."
"I know," you murmur. You nestle her closer to you and quietly hold her.
You stay in that position, silently snuggling the clerk, for what has to be 10-15 minutes. You look up to see an older woman approaching. "I'm the manager," she informs you. "What are you doing with Louise?"
Louise looks up from her position against your chest. "Mom?!"
You unlock an arm from around Louise. "Jessica," you say, extending your hand.
The manager shakes it. "Kathy."
"Your daughter experienced a traumatic event just now," you tell Kathy. "The gentleman who killed himself via his own knife after I turned down his advances was found by her."
Kathy blanches. "Oh my!"
"I took her over here so she and I could both try and blank out what just happened," you explain.
"In that case, we won't make you relive it," comes a male voice. Two police officers are standing nearby. "We overheard your entire conversation just now. The man clearly died by his own hand. He's a long-time criminal, no loss to society."
"Store's closed for the day," Kathy informs you. "Should I take you and Louise back home with me?"
