D&D: Make your way to the battle ring
From Create Your Own Story
Slipping through alleys, you carefully avoid the local thugs as you move through the dock ward. The battle ring is less than reputable, but such is expected in the Docks, well known for it's lack of security.
The Battle Ring is largely avoided by the local thugs and robbers of the district, it's generally agreed that the participants of the ring look out for one another, if such honor is not upheld they are disqualified. You have yet to exercise this requirement, but you know it is expected of you should an attempt be made to steal from any of the fighters. The rules are simple; Pay to enter, Stay in the ring, and avoid death blows. Fighters bring their own equipment, exiting the ring is a forfeit of the match, and a death blow requires the slayer to pay for resurrection before being considered to re-enter the ring.
There are roughly twenty members of the ring, as you turn the corner and see it, today there are six members present. Dagul, a large Half orc with a halberd. Lobran, a dwarf with a battlehammer and a flair for insults. Andin, a human fencer with a rapier. Carter, a quiet human monk. Hansel, a human barbarian with a greataxe. Finally, Rebec, a sicker looking gnome, he likes to heavily injure his opponents with a flail.
Joining the gathering, you appraise one another with a mild dialogue, Lobran taking a very vocal approach to the shortcomings of each of you, only to find himself victim to a series of short jokes from Andin. Dagul and Carter stand silently in a corner, they are mutual friends of sorts. The procedure is open from here as an observing crowd gathers around the quarter and begins discussing possible matches, and the bets they will make. You may now either stand and issue a challenge, or wait for another fighter to take the initiative.
