You tell Mr. Mime you are the new Gardner. His frown worsens. For a moment he disappears, walking somewhere behind the door. Then a pair of sharp, big ass sheers peek around the corner slightly startling you. Then you see the white mitt hands of Mr. Mime as he slowly rounds the corner. "Mime." He points at the sheers then at himself as if saying something.
"What?" You reply a bit confused, regretting skipping mime class. He does the gesture again, first pointing at the sheers them himself then snipping the air with them. You feel like you understand what he is saying.
"You are the Gardner?"
He nods his head, "Mime."
"Oh. Well I'm here to replace you. Get out." You move to walk in.
Mr. Mime holds up a big hand and states his name again. Perhaps entering is not a viable option here. He is a big handed clown and now he has a pair of sharp tools that could decapitate you. He then closes the door and locks it. You are not getting in this way. Do you give up or try to find another way in. You could try the door again if you like.
