[edit] What happened

[edit] Stuff we took

We did not take notebooks as we had shortage and we needed to buy more. So, as we expected few new kids (because we came to know that few of the older families had shifted or went to their village) we took slates and pieces of chalk. We took the few Amar Chitra Katha we had.

[edit] When we went there

I and Anupam went to the housing quarters along with Mr. Rajesh. He helped in finding out the new families that arrived and talked with them so as to make them come to the office for our session .This helped us very well and the turn over was that we had 5 new Telugu and 2 new Bengali kids. Then we joined in office along with Jayanth and Kshitij to begin the session

[edit] The teaching activity

[edit] Telugu kids

Jayanth took over the teaching of elder ones by teaching them addition and multiplication and later gave them some excercises and also homework. Shankara Rao was able to do 3 digit multiplication also.

I was looking after the kids and as there was dearth of books I wrote the numbers (1-10) on a slate and made them say them aloud in Telugu as well as English. Then, I called each kid separately and asked them to take over my position of reciting for the class. The kids were pretty interested and by the end of the class most of them were able to recite them and recognize these numbers.

Later, I read one of the story from the Amar Chitra kathas for the kids.

[edit] Bengali teaching

Anupam and Kshitij taught the Bengali kids numbers and Alphabets(by Anupam). Later these kids also joined for the story recital.

[edit] Wrapping up

We ended the session by distributing the Biscuits provided by the poeple at CCCL and candies that we bought.
