Composition

Composed by Dsign Music (Anne Judith Wik, Robin Jenssen, Ronny Svendsen, Nermin Harambasic) and Fridolin Nordso, the song was originally titled "I Just Wanna Dance". After SM Entertainment had purchased the rights to the song, the lyrical story of the lyric was re-written with additional composition by Yoo Young-jin, and the melody arranged by Yoo Han-jin.[3]

According to the notable popular music critic Han Dong-Yoon (한동윤) of IZM, and an interview with Girls' Generation, the song is an electropop in Eurodance style, lacking the "hook" characteristics of previous single Gee, getting a heavy synthesizer intro.[4][5]

The song also uses the analog synthesizer performed by Yoo Young-jin and a musique concrete sound technique in the last part of the song.[5]

Critical Reception

Public gave a highly positive rating on the average of 87% on Oricorn Music Survey, the highest ever of a debuting artist this year and at #3 of all times debuting artist. Aacki Sachyeo of Music Station commented it as one of the best self composing debut ever. "You would never expect such works by a only debuting artist at fifteen [years of age]. This certainly raises expectations for her debut album and she will have high standards to fill up to but certainly someone very promising."

Many praised her unique tone and greatly accompanied by the low key voices of male solo artist Jan Di.
