Min is one of the few actors in the industry who has already completed his mandatory two year army training before entering the entertainment. His younger sister, Min Soo-yeon works at SM Entertainment as part of the creative designs department. Upon graduating high school Min was accepted into Seoul National University with his top examination marks against the cohort. He began his undergraduate course in Economics but after two years switched to Fine Arts and Korean Literature, specialising in theatre and Korean folktales respectively.
