1. IMPORTANT PARKING UPDATE RELATED TO FOOTBALL GAME ON THURSDAY, SEPT. 13 On Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7:45pm, the University of Maryland football team will play West Virginia at Chevy Chase Field at Byrd Stadium. The number of vehicles on campus for daily University activities and this evening game may exceed our inventory of parking spaces. In order to meet our daily campus parking needs and to prepare for the game, we must make the adjustments to various parking areas to ensure space availability on Sept. 13. Please find detailed and specific information regarding individual changes for SDG, Lot Z, Lot Q, Lot AA, Lot ML*, and Lot U at www.transportation.umd.edu/parking/athleticevents.html#thursdaynight.

2. GRADUATE STUDENT SUITE (AND FREE COFFEE) CLOSES AT 3:00PM TODAY, SEPT. 13 Due to unavailability of staff related to campus parking changes for the football game on Thursday, Sept. 13, the Graduate Student Suite in 1121 Stamp Student Union will close at 3:00pm today. Free coffee will still be available on Sept. 13 until 3:00pm. The Office of Graduate Student Life apologizes for the inconvenience.

3. JOIN GRADUATE STUDENT LIFE FOR POLITICAL COMEDY WITH THE CAPITOL STEPS: FRIDAY, SEPT. 21, 8:00PM Join Graduate Student Life for an evening of political comedy and satire with the Capitol Steps. Started by former congressional staffers, the Capitol Steps are a DC favorite, entertaining audiences and skewering current events for over 25 years. The show takes place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center Amphitheater in DC. A limited number of tickets are left! Purchase your ticket online ($15 each--a $35 value!) for UM grad students at http://www.union.umd.edu/GSL/social/monthlysocial.html#steps. Online ticket sales are not available on Sundays. 7. HOW SAFE IS OUR SEAFOOD? WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19, 12:00-1:00PM Seafood offers many important human health benefits but can also be one of the most hazardous foods we consume, particularly for women of childbearing age. Every day in this country, coal-fired power plants, incinerators, and chlorine plants spew out particles laced with mercury. The emissions travel on the wind, then fall back to Earth, usually in rain or snow, landing most often in our rivers, lakes, and oceans. Which seafood is safe to eat and which should be avoided? Find out during this session of the Office of Sustainability's Sustainability Speaker Series in Microbiology (MCB) 1207. For more info about this event and the series, visit www.sustainability.umd.edu.

8. SOUND YOUR HORN TRANSPORTATION FORUMS: WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19, 1:00PM AND 5:45PM The Department of Transportation Services invites you to the first of its monthly forums. Come out and speak with David Allen, Transportation Director, about your transportation concerns (parking, transit, alternative transportation, etc.). There are two sessions on Wednesday, Sept. 19: Jimenez Room in Stamp Student Union at 1:00pm (co-sponsored with the Off-Campus Student Involvement) and Annapolis Hall Multipurpose Room at 5:45pm (co-sponsored with the South Hill Area Council). If you are unable to make these sessions, send your concerns to ncorbin@umd.edu or visit www.transportation.umd.edu and click on our "How are we doing?" link.
