#1: Does anyone know why there are no LBSC 2008 winter session classes? They were available last year.

I just spoke to Cassandra and she said that CLIS will not be offering any courses over the winter term. While 635 and 690 have been offered during the winter term in the past, the current lack of classes is likely due to the fact that professors are not available to teach over break this time (teaching winter term classes is entirely optional).

This is disappointing as those who work for the libraries are eligible to receive winter term tuition remission for the first time this year.

Cassandra suggested that those who are eligible to receive tuition remission may wish to consider taking a course outside of the department or arrange an independent study.

#2: I've heard that the WISE program is being discontinued- which is extremely disappointing. Does anyone have any opinions about this?

Dean Barlow is currently reviewing the WISE consortium agreement and there are currently no WISE offerings planned for the spring (sorry, I know that response doesn't really add much).
