Important issues in the wiki

We are in need a better policy in terms of user control over personal pages. Comment on the soon-to-be written policy request to make your opinion known.

Issue summary: The issue in question is how much control individual users should have over their personal pages. Should they be the final arbiter of what is on them, or should the community? We clearly can't have a sysop intervene in the case of every single dispute over a page. The root of the issue is whether personal pages should serve as an encyclopedic base of knowledge of a profile of sorts, where users can espouse what they want others to view of them.

Decision: Gogf's proposal is now the accepted norm. Quote: "..all relevant facts are permissible on a user's page. The discussion page can be used to determine whether a fact is relevant or not. If a fact's veracity is called into question, we can institute a system like the one Wikipedia employs. If users want to have a personal profile that others are not allowed to edit, then they can user their User:username page."
