I believe that Facebook has a lot of upidse when dealing with teaching because it is so instant. One plus to me is that a teacher can basically have office hours from the comfort of their home. They could assign a piece of homework regarding the Civil War generals, and then instruct the students that if they have any questions regarding that topic that they can contact their teacher immediately at a specific time. This takes the inconvenience of email out of the equation. Email can take awhile to get a response and a teacher can get a lot of emails throughout the day so student's questions may be lost. But with Facebook's instant chat, a teacher can focus specifically on the student's questions.Another plus in my mind is that students can communicate with other students right away as well. In the era of instant communication, this is defiantly a plus. A student with a question can quickly ask another student if they know how to solve the problem, and if neither of them know then they can go on and ask the teacher.
