Vawkr* is one of many ways that people can conmimucate online, but the fact that it is an application that allows for simultaneous video, audio, and textual conversation with a group is what makes it valuable. Educationally, it could be used as a conference room for classmates or even a virtual help session where various TA's would be online and able to answer various questions. This would save both the instructor and students the hassle of going back and forth with email or physical visits just to discuss small questions. One characteristic that sets this apart from other group chat applications is that it is completely free and does not require any downloads. Everything can be run in a browser. However, one qualm I do have is that having the ability to record a session would be very useful. It is one feature this application does not offer.
