Back in the Day

Peter was a normal (if extremely gifted) student, kind of geeky, with all the feelings and lack of confidence that comes with being a teenager. If someone told you he was just an average guy... someone was telling the truth.

Then that changed. He was bitten by an average spider that had been averagely modified with some average chemicals. It resulted in various abilities, among them superhuman strength, speed, resilience, flexibility, the power to walk on walls and to predict (and subsequently avoid) immediate dangers.

Peter first turned his newfound powers to show business, indirectly resulting in a thief murdering his uncle (for further information, please see every Spider-Man ever.) With great power comes great responsibility, he learned by force. He'd go on to never shut up about it, and also to become a superhero.

Island Life

This particular Peter Parker is the Ultimate Universe version. However, because most people know Spider-Man from the movies, he popped into this universe shaped like Tobey Maguire, complete with organic webshooters. In truth, he doesn't know why; he just tells anyone who asks that he's probably a combination of all the Spider-Men through the Marvel Universes. This is further supported by the fact that whenever he sees or reads something to do with Marvel that supposedly happened to him, it seems familiar; it could just be that he's crazy.

Using this excuse, he's since lied about his age repeatedly (appearing in his early twenties as opposed to the fifteen-sixteen-ish he actually is) and got a job teaching high school science. Fortunately, he's a borderline genius; it works out for him.

When he's not yelling at students his own age (and some even older) to do their homework, he still superheroes (conjugated as a verb) in his spare time.
