History

Unfortunately, Kurt was not dealt the best hand in life. He was born with blue fur, yellow eyes, and a host of other physical mutations that made him look demonic, and abandoned by his parents by a riverside as a baby. Luckily, he was found and taken in by a kind human family, the Wagners, who raised him as their own son.

Kurt grew up on the Wagner's farm in the German countryside, in a hilly rural region near Bavaria. It was a happy but lonely life for him; his appearance meant that he was raised almost entirely in isolation, and he rarely if ever was allowed to leave the farm. He had plenty of room to play, but no friends to play with. This led to his growing up rather self-conscious and insecure, not to mention alone. However, everything changed when he discovered that his physical pecularities weren't his only mutation: when he turned 13, he learned how to teleport.

His newfound powers brought the attention of Professor Charles Xavier, an American telepath. Xavier invited Kurt to attend his special school for mutants in New York and, eventually, to become a part of his X-Men. Kurt accepted the invite and moved to New York with his foster family's blessing. It was at Xavier's that he made his very first friends -- including Scott Summers, who was to become his best friend, Kitty Pryde, on whom he immediately developed a crush, and Rogue.

With the X-Men, Kurt eventually discovered the truth of his parentage. His real mother was Mystique, one of the leaders of the X-Men nemeses the Brotherhood of Mutants; and she didn't voluntarily abandon Kurt, but rather accidentally dropped him in the river while fleeing. When she saw that he had been taken in by a better family, she let him go with them. Kurt struggled to come to terms with all this, but eventually accepted it. He was devastated when Rogue, Mystique's foster daughter, appeared to have killed her by pushing her off of a cliff when she'd been turned to stone. Luckily, Mystique was revived by the powers of Apocalypse, and later restored to her children.

During his time with the X-Men, Kurt really came out of his shell, helped in part by the image inducer he was given by Xavier. The image inducer allowed him to look like a normal person, which let him go to school with his new friends. Kurt quickly became an enormous extrovert, outgoing to the point of almost being annoying. However, he remained very sensitive about his true appearance, and at times was very insecure. These issues were soothed slightly by his first girlfriend, Amanda, to whom he accidentally revealed himself. They dated for several months and remained good friends after their breakup.

In Purgatory

As with the X-Men, Kurt has made some incredibly close friends on Purgatory. His best friend, Rock Howard, is also his roommate. The two share an apartment, along with Terry Bogard, Bonne Jenet, an ever-changing roster of roommates, and their two pets (a cat and a dog). He takes classes at the Purgatory version of the X-Mansion and is even on one of the X-Men teams, although all of the other X-Men are from either the comic books or the movie universes. He deeply misses his Evolution friends, particularly Scott, but seems to be dealing okay.

Miscellany/Random facts

--Kurt almost always wears his image inducer in public, unless on official X-Men business. With it on, he looks like a normal teenage boy. Without it, he sports dark blue fur, yellow eyes, pointed ears, fangs, a tail, and bifurcated hands and feet (two fingers and two toes). The image inducer doesn't actually change him physically, merely creates an illusion.

--The tail is prehensile, and nimble enough to pick things up with.

--It takes Kurt almost two hours to shower in the morning. :P
