Subeta

Subeta is a PG-13 online virtual pet site. There are over 90,000 members, 48 pet species, and minions for those pets; with new species added randomly.
Subeta was started by Keith Kurson, and he currently runs Subeta with many moderators, user administrators, and artists who provide Subeta's items, pets, and everything else that needs to be drawn. Subeta contains many games, quests, galleries, and shops where sP - the currency of Subeta - can be spent.
It is a site that is similar to Neopets, although it is aimed at a slightly older demographic and has many interesting and creative features. Users have to be at least 13 years old or have permission from a parent.
Changing colors
Subeta comes with a variety of colors for your pet - this is done with "potions" and "elixirs".
Potions are typically more expensive, since they're rarer, but they only change your pet's colour, leaving the species unaltered.
Elixirs can, however, also change your pet's species. For example, a Bloodred Montre Elixir will change your pet from, say, a Kumos into a Bloodred Montre, while if you used a Bloodred Potion it would change into a Bloodred Kumos.
However, a color that was released recently (Hydrus) is not available from a Potion. You have to complete the Uncharted Land Map, which has 9 pieces, and then do a quest for the Witch there once you complete it. She will turn your pet Hydrus.
Miracle Potions
There are also Miracle Potions that can change your pets' color. They are similar to potions and elixirs, although these are more rare and expensive. These were once available for $30 USD by donating to the site.
