The #DarkAbode is an IRC channel that acts as a domain and dwelling place for the god Falerin.
The #DarkAbode also serves as the primary in character location of Truth Seekers on Caelestia.net. Roleplay in the #DarkAbode is more freeform then that of the Epic but some considerations do apply.
- Do not God Mode - There exist very specific delineations of power with in the abode. The only God or God like characters that exist are under the control of Caelestia.net, Artix Entertainment, or ancillary RPG staff. As a general rule it may be assumed that those who have some sort of channel power also have a reflected increase in potential in character as well.
- Do not bunny the characters of others - Allow others to control their own actions you should not speak for them.
- Staff may bunny your characters or directly mimic you at anytime. - You allow upon joining the abode that Game Staff may directly control your character even against your will and in a manner you consider inconsistent.
- Consistency in character is important.
- Violence in the Abode may be met with swift reprisals.
- Do not disrupt the enjoyment of others.
- All RP that effects the official RP's in any manner is subject to staff approval either by being directly monitored, approved by a staff member, or sent to the character submissions address for approval. The sole exception to this rule are RP's that have no lasting physical effect and are purely social in nature. If in doubt staff can and will require submission for clarification. This rule is subject to staff discretion.
- Any gains of power while in the abode fall under the discretion of the staff as for their acceptability. Any such gains made out of the abode must be approved by them to be consider valid RPs at all. You are advised that attempting to circumvent this or to powergame in any fashion will result in reprisals. Powergaming is unwelcome in this setting.
Regarding character creation:
As the Abode has grown, so have the number of characters who wish to play in the abode. As personal storylines become entangled in the abode it can at times become difficult to follow what is going on and why. For this reason it several rules now govern character creation in the abode.
- New players may insert one character without completing the questionnaire. This is considered a "free slot." However, we encourage ALL characters to go through the process.
- Characters existing prior to the implimentation of the questionnaire (July 6th) with more than 4 appearances in the abode are considered "grandfathered." Such characters are not required to have a questionnaire, although it is still recommended.
- It is now necessary to complete a Character Questionnaire and gain approval for any character beyond your first in the Abode who do not fall into any of the above categories. The supplementary Character Ability List is also now required.
- As it is difficult to concretely verify that users from a single household are in fact discrete users, they shall be treated for purposes of the original character rule as not being so. In essence, if you share a connection with another individual, that gives you only a single IP address or hostname, only the first individual will be able to create a free slot character. All additional users will be required to complete the questionnaire process.
- An individual's free slot can be again made free by completing a questionnaire for the character already occupying it This allows for characters to be built and established within the confines of the RP itself rather than prior.
- Characters declared lastingly dead by a GM, or taken wholly under GM control, clear the free slot for a new character. In addition, an additional free slot may be granted by a GM at their discretion when events warrant.
- If at any time either due to grandfathering or GMs' discression, a character has multiple free slots filled, then all characters in this grouping must have questionnaires approved in order to clear the free slot.
- The GM's may at their discretion accept an alternate form of background history for a character such as a complted character sheet with detailed background story or alternate questionaire. However such is likely to be scrutinized far more heavily and should not be considered a shortcut to approval.
- Characters approved under the above rule (8) shall be treated as fully approved and will not consume a free slot.
- Characters whose natures are sufficiently extraordinary as to in any manner bend these rules or adapt them must always be precleared through channel staff with unanimous approval.
Restricted Characters and Players
If a player or character has sufficent history of powergaming in a fashion the channel staff consider nonacceptable that player or character may be placed on restricted status.
- A restricted player may not create ANY additional characters without a questionaire nor may they play any of their previous characters who lacks a character questionaire.
- A restricted character may not gain any new knowledge, powers, or abilities without expressly declaring the intetion to try to gain such abilities and going through NPC or PC training to gain those abilities with a chance of failure in any such attempt.
A players characters may be restricted without restricting the player and vice versa. Though both may be applied if deemed appropriate.
