Backyard wrestling
From Bywpedia
Backyard wrestling (commonly abbreviated as BYW), is an imitational practice loosely connected with professional wrestling, performed and arranged by usually untrained 11-30 year old males in an unsanctioned and unprofessional environment, that is undergoing some development taking a varying semi-pro form in passing years with few practitioners learning the basics and techiques to present quality wrestling to oppose hardcore stunts; a denigrating part of its past. Females are rarely seen in the activity and only usually play a valet or figure head. Backyard wrestling is also a title applied to home-filmed and produced wrestling shows, events, matches and videos using typically a camcorder.
Futhermore, since the outset of backyard wrestling was heard of before the 1990's, it has ever-been an underground scene with little to no publicity although well-known in general. There are cases as seen today, whereas Backyard wrestling has expanded in terms of territory and has occured in parks, fields and other public areas with still little to no audience. During such festivities, home-filming and online video producing becomes a prominent source of promoting, distributing, trading, and exhibiting events to attract electronic viewers on a social video sharing service such as most popular today, YouTube as well as other publications. Moreover, BYW has developed a denigrating reputation due to its unprofessionalism, its unsanctioned and unfounded nature and the physical unnecessary violence and outrage of behavior the BYW craze in the 1990's showcased which approximately lasted the duration of 1996-2001, between the period pro wrestling television boomed to its high-ranking popularity when WWE and WCW competed in a ratings war that brought on "The Attitude Era".

Inception
The beginning of the backyard wrestling era is believed to have started prior to the 1990's though there isn't specific evidence. Many believed it sparked long before that time, particular since the 1950's. The 1980's is clearly the year professional wrestling was exploited to the mainstream and gained abundant popularity after Hulk Hogan bodyslammed Andre The Giant on the canvas floor at WrestleMania III, erupting audience in the arena and around the world in sheer dismay. Following that occurence, backyard wrestling officially debuted and gained the media attention for its safe professionalism.
