Shadows worked under his 'Extreme Joker' gimmick, where he would wear a hat and cane and had to characteristics of a psychopath. Shadows debuted for HGEW as 'Ryan Shadows' in mid-2009 as a completely new character. He went on to compete in several matches with the likes of Alex Page and JKH.
