History and notes

Since the late 1990's, messenger boards were created to share devotion to the sport while dependent on promotion through person-to-person distribution of videos. When technology evolved allowing more of a social network, backyard wrestling started relying heavily on the internet and communities

Many communities have existed in past times, ones which include Backyard Revolution and Backyardwrestling.com. Still in existence are to name a few, Backyard Wrestling Link, once the household backyard wrestling community until the creation and arosal of Global Backyard Wrestling News, arguably the preeminent backyard wrestling community today.
