Sparegoggles was created as a refuge during outages of the main forum.

It was created with the following in mind:

• Sparegoggles primary purpose is so that BG. users may know what is going on.
• Sparegoggles secondary purpose is to allow the BG community to continue its online discourses with as little interference as possible.

Name

The name is a reminder that this is not the full forum As is stated in the 'raison d'etre' of the forum thread:

"It is the spare goggles; not the ones you would wear by choice but, the pair that are worn when your nice ones can't be found; they're nice enough, but nowhere near as lovely as your proper brassgoggles"
