HB Journal for Sep 27, 1939
From Brackbillwiki
At three oclock this morning the siren blew four times & wakened us. We watched a glowing sky to the s.west and then went back to sleep.
Ross came to work at the mill today to help us out of our jam. I had the big truck all day today and a drizzling rain made it a much messier job than yesterday. We were busy but got through.
After supper we took a load to Choir practice and prayer meeting. Practice was a flop, but we lived through it.
