It would have been a good day to be living back on the farm, for I heard the sound of rain as soon as I awoke. Even until the night fall it was raining.

We were extra busy at the office with customers for one thing or another. Between times we would stick our noses in the books and tried to keep them up to date.

When I came home for supper, I was greeted by the familiar sounds of baby Evelyn's "waa-ing."

After good big supper Jane fixed & fed the baby and I did the dishes. Jane went to Gap to register to vote.

Commentary

The 1940 presidential election would have been the first one that Jane could vote in; she was 17 in 1936 and the voting age in 1940 was still 21.
