Today was a red letter day or rather a black letter day. It was not exactly "Blue Monday" yet something of that order. I was very lazy or maybe tired and so was Jane for she didn't do the washing as usual.

It was exceedingly hot and "close" and I had a good bitt of running up and down the steps and shoveling in a hot wheat bin.

In the evening I just sat and read out of "The Virginian" while Jane spent the evening visiting Uncle John Groff's a little. We went to bed but it was too hot to sleep right away.
