RED SOCK ALERT! This page has been socked by Rich Costey. You could be next. |
Rich Costey can be summed up quite simply as a true Socker.
Career and Work
Rich Costey is a 'music' producer who previously has worked with such 'artists' as Franz Ferdinand, Nine Inch Nails and Adolf Hitler. He has also worked as an engineer and mixer for many other artists. His work as a mixer is the most interesting as he liked to work closely with the sound: he would insert a cable carrying the source sound into his left ear and a line-out from his anal cavity would go to the monitors for playback. Levels would then be adjusted by whichever artist he was working with at the time by tweaking one of his many nipples. Rich Costey is a 32 Channel Stereo Mixer with MIDI control and is very popular for premium recording studios - especially in New York.
His most notable recent work is Muse's Blackholes and Revelations where he single handedly managed to restrain every single raging rock song and turn it into commercially viable pop drivel. For this very reason he is no longer allowed access to British Shores as he is considered extremely dangerous by the Metropolitan Police.
Other work worth drawing attention to is his involvement with Fiona Apple's "When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight And He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand And Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land And If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right" that he co-mixed yet didn't think to ask her to shorten the title. Not even just a little.
Interests and Lifestyle
In his spare time he enjoys the pleasures of Red Socking and listening to his own work so he may bask in the glow of his glory. He often hangs out with Franz Ferdinand, an Austrian Archduke turned Scot-indie Band. Together they enjoy taking great records and experimenting to see how they can suck the life out them. Once extracted, the life of the record is prepared by drying it out then roasting it, finally it is smoked as a hallucinogenic drug that is well known to inspire crazy ideas involving the notion that using cheesy 80s elements in your music might be cool. It was this practice that also led to him thinking it would be worthwhile working with My Chemical Romance.
