Notochord
- The notochord is present in all chordata embryos.
- The notochord is not the nevre cord (or spinal cord like we think of). It is situated between the nerve cord and the digestive track.
- The notocord persists in some invertebrate chordates and primitive vertebrates.
- Most mature vertebrates retain the notochord into adulthood only as gelatinous sheets between the main skeletal column (so the pieces between the vertebrae of humans).
