Population Growth
1. Density Independent Growth:
- Increasing size, continuous acceleration of population growth with increase of population size.
- Model: Nth = Nt + Bt - Dt -> dN / dt = B - D
- Per capita birth rate = (b = B / N)
- Per capita death rate = (d = D / N) (aka probability of death over entire population)
- dN / dt = bN - dN -> N(b-d) -> b-d = r; r = per capita rate of density independent population growth
- dN / dt = rN
- Future population prediction = N(t) = N(naught)e^(rt) where r = growth rate of population
- yeah...confusing in type...see the lecture slides.
