King of Salt and Rock is a title traditionally held by the the Lord of the Iron Islands, currently Balon Greyjoy.

Balon Greyjoy, Lord of the Iron Islands proclaimed himself King of the Isles, starting Greyjoy's Rebellion. Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms and Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell joined forces to defeat him.

289 AL At night in the castle of Pyke Balon surrendered to King Robert. Balon's son Theon Greyjoy became the hostage and ward of Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell.
