The Seven Kingdoms divided Westeros, but was unified by Aegon the Dragon during the Wars of Conquest. Robert Baratheon is the current King of the Seven Kingdoms.
Orys Baratheon, rumored to be Aegon's bastard brother, defeated and killed Argilac the Arrogant, tbe last Storm King. As reward Aegon granted him Argilac's castle, lands and daughter.
The last King in the North, Torrhen Stark, the King Who Knelt, choose to swear fealty to Aegon the Dragon rather than do battle. He therefore keept his land and continued to rule as Lord of Winterfell.
Edmyn Tully, Lord of Riverrun and many other river lords deserted Harren the Black, King of the Isles, and joined Aegon.
Harren and his line perished in the burning of Harrenhal. Aegon rewarded Edmyn Tully with the dominion of the riverlands. He allowed the surviving iron lords to chose who should have the primacy among them. They chose Vickon Greyjoy, Lord of Pyke.
Mern, last King of the Reach, perished at the Field of Fire. His steward, Harlen Tyrell, surrendered Highgarden to Aegon. Aegon granted Harlen Highgarden and dominion of the Reach.
During Greyjoy's Rebellion Rodrik Greyjoy was slain at Seagard and Maron Greyjoy was slain on the walls of Pyke.
Aerys II Targaryen, King of the Seven Kingdoms had Brandon Stark murdered.
