Science and God
This is the greatest and most profound essay that I, Aryeztur, have written to date. But one day, I wish to expand my ideas in this essay to create an even more profound and complex theory. For all things that are done bring glory to God. God is everything, he is responsible for everything, he is great and powerful.
The earth is like one grain of sand in the beach, which is like the Universe. The Earth is just one speck in the sea of existence. It is nothing. It is tiny beyond comprehension. It is insignificant. The magnificence and blackness and size and glory of the Universe dwarfs the Earth. But just because the Earth is like that, it doesn't make it unimportant. It serves to humble us and remind us that we are nothing compared to God, who alone in all His might and power is Master of the entire Universe, larger and older (13.7 billion years) than any other thing. How can it be that only one planet, the Earth among this sea of sand bears testament to God's glory by containing intelligent life? No, just as the world is full of stars and suns and planets and galaxies, so too is it filled with life forms, more wonderful than imagined, all bearing testament to God. So what if we have met none yet? The Universe is vaster and greater than we have imagined and even the most intelligent cannot overcome the natural barriers of space and time. We must work with space and time, not go around them. One day we will meet other life forms and celebrate God together. Evolution is a fact. Just like God created the Universe to operate on his laws, so too is evolution a part of his laws. God interferes from time to time in the Universe to make it a better place, to give guidance to souls, and to give souls to intelligent beings, so too did God interfere with evolution from time to time. Do not curse evolution. It is a glory of God. Everywhere in the Universe there is proof of God's power. Science cannot overthrow God, for it merely establishes new ways of showing his power and glory. People who are afraid of science because they fear it is against God are foolish. How little faith they have in God if they believe humans can use God's own laws against God himself. In the beginning, God created the Universe. He created it in the Big Bang. It's pointless to ask what is outside the universe or what was before the Universe because there was no time or space before the Universe so those questions are meaningless. Only God knows, only God was before. We humans have explored the events of the Big Bang to very near its actual occurrence. We have found that as we get closer to the bang, we see the unity of all the forces, all matter, all energy, all substance, proof of the unity of everything under God. We see the forces of God permeate the entire Universe. The whole Universe operates on God's eternal laws. The same laws are everywhere as Newton and Einstein showed us. The moment of the Big Bang itself is unknown to us, because that is the moment of creation. God shall keep his secrets. Nobody will ever know how exactly the big bang actually happened. God has many ways of keeping humans from reaching his level. For example, in Quantum Mechanics, there is such a thing as the Uncertainty Principle which restrains us humans from knowing too much about a particle. As Einstein once said, God does not play dice, but he does not play dice with himself. He could play it with humans. Likewise, chaos theory tells us that the power of predicating random occurrences is beyond us and only God can do so. One little event can trigger a catastrophe elsewhere. Furthermore, it is impossible to go around the time barrier and surpass the speed of light. For then we could manipulate time, and become like gods ourselves. The fact that nobody from the future has come to the past is proof that time travel is impossible. Light is like the sword of God in the universe for it prevents people from challenging God's plan too much. Furthermore, there is something known as the Anthropic principle. It states that the very fact life exists in a rather hostile universe is proof that the Universe if fine tuned for life. Had conditions been different, the Universe would have either recollapsed or expanded so fast so as not to allow particles to stick together. Temperatures and gravity and a variety of other factors are at certain values so as to make life feasible. Otherwise life and even matter would have been impossible. Relativity, Einstein's theory is also a good proof of God. Although people may have different ideas of reality, there is one eternal constant representing God, the speed of life. Relativity also shows the unity of space and time and matter and energy, proof of God. The universe follows the same laws anywhere...Newton's, Kepler's, Maxwell's, Planck's, Hawking's, Schrödinger’s.... Also one should note the laws of thermodynamics. Those say that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. For only God can do that. And the second law of thermodynamics states that the universe is moving towards disorder and chaos. Yet, life is clear contradiction of that. Life is in fact increasing complexity, a lessening of disorder (entropy), which is clearly in violation of the second law for we see the universe sinking into more entropy and greatest disorder as it expands, as gravity weakens, as time moves in a way that things break from order to disorder (an egg breaks into many pieces but many pieces do not form spontaneously to become an egg). Yet life is increased order. Only God could make that happen. And there are so many other questions. What is the edge of the Universe like? When we look into "empty" space we see blackness, but we see space itself because space itself exists in three dimensions. But how we see out from the edge of the Universe itself where nothing exists. This leads me to believe the Universe is kind of spherical like the Earth which has limits and yet no "boundary." As I said before, there is no point in considering space and time outside or before the Universe because they did not exist. Besides it seems as though we only comprehend 4 dimensions even though there are 11. Who knows what exactly the other dimensions hold for us. Finally, I close with the hope of string theory, the ultimate theory of the Universe. Nobody knows what all the implications of this theory means, but its strings are like a celestial orchestra, beautiful and dynamic, giving meaning, giving purpose, giving unity, and glory to God. Amen.
Therefore in summary: God is actually one eternal, infinite force that is the everything of existence and beyond and all. God himself is a personification of this force. Science describes the force and the laws that are of this force. The forces we see within the Universe- gravity, electromagnetism, etc. are but a part of the ultimate force which is the force emanating from everythingness, God himself. God is responsible for creation, the Big Bang, and also as custodian of eternal truth, keeps us from knowing and predicting everything. He also sometimes fudges the Universe to make things happen, such as providing the spark that turned complex molecules into live. He can also direction the evolution of the Universe and life. He usually lets the Universe run naturally and evolve by his laws, but he is above his laws and he alone can defy them. While God has these physically responsibilities, he also has enormous moral, spiritual, and ethical responsibilities to sentient beings and is always the ultimate standard.
