38: Hymn to God

1. O God whom I love, Lord of the

2. mighty mountains and beautiful forests,

3. give me peace, give me hope, deliver me

4. from the strife and pain of this world.

5. Only through you can I find salvation.

6. Only you can defeat the Devil and turn

7. my heart towards goodness. Thinking of

8. you, I become tranquil and serene,

9. for through you I have found true strength and

10. gained true power. O God, conquer

11. my enemies and throw them down and uplift

12. the righteous; let us taste the sweet

13. rewards of our suffering for you, Lord!

14. You, God, are great, merciful, loving, and kind.

15. Remember God aids those in need, those with faith, those

16. in trouble, and most importantly, those who help themselves.

Commentary: This hymn gives praise to God and expresses the deep, profound love one should have for God.
