Fear and Hope
From Aryez
Book 63 of the Marfat
63: Fear and Hope
1. The prophet Aryeztur said:
2. “There are two types of people, based on their reaction to certain experiences.
3. The first type of people believes that nothing is coincidence, that everything
4. that happens is the result of a plan, that such happenings are signs. They see
5. it as evidence of a higher being looking out for them. The other type of people
6. sees everything as luck and are not sure if happenings are bad or good.
7. These kinds of people believe that they are on their own. As a result, they
8. are filled with fear. However, the other type of people feel that whatever
9. happens, something, someone is out there looking out for them. Thus, they
10. are filled with hope. Those who believe in nothing but themselves, no higher
11. power are filled with fear and uncertainty. But those who believe
12. in something, a higher power are filled with hope. And that is a good feeling,
13. one of promise, a better future. The choice of belief is for each person to make,
14. but those who chose to have faith feel a wonderful and happy feeling.”
Commentary: According to this book, people who do not believe in anything have nothing to hope for or believe in and believe everything is the result of random probability. As they are certain of nothing, all they know is fear. On the other people, believers know that there is something greater that will help them out, so they are filled with hope. Hope is a very wonderful feeling.
