Situation

Caer Caradoc Hill

A significant (459m), steep sided hill sitting across the valley 2km east and 300m up from All Stretton. On the top of are the remains of a major hill fort.

The hill is a ridge, running southwest to northeast, and aligned with a number of other hills on that side of the valley. Thew west side falls steeply and pretty evenly to the floor of the valley, and the ends are scarcely less steep. The least severe approach is from the east, where it spreads into the head of a number of small valleys before rising again to form the hills called "The Wilderness" and "Willstone Hill". Apart from a few rock outcrops it is walkable, but a steep climb.

Caer Caradoc

The hill fort on the ridge of Caer Caradoc Hill. It is a complex fort with multiple ridges and ditches. Caer Caradoc is just over 2 and 1/2 km from the center of Church Stretton as the crow flies, but much of the final 1/2 km is up steep inclines.
