Pyrodeus is the Angel of Fire, and one of the main protagonists of Blades of the Apocalypse. Despite his 8,000 years of experience with human nature, Pyrodeus remains trusting almost to the point of gullibility. He is also very idealistic, willing to raise arms against evil without thinking twice about his own personal safety.

Origin: Approximately 8 millennia ago, the Archangels were charged with creating new Guardians of the Gate, able to battle at full strength regardless of distance from the gates of Heaven. Four of the five archangels (the exception being Azrael) created their own Warrior Angels in accordance with their elemental inclination. Gabriel created Hydrodurus, Michael created Pyrodeus, Raphael created Gisichros, and Uriel created Ventusamplus. This would even the balance of power from a strong advantage for Hell to a level playing field. However, God desired the balance to be tipped in Heaven's favor. He created four additional Warrior Angels of his own volition: Cryodivus, Fulminerus, Silexops, and Aurumagnus. Pyrodeus was one of only three Warrior Angels to survive the battle between the Warrior Angels and Sons of Plunder, the others being Cryodivus and Fulminerus.

He created four additional Warrior Angels of his own volition: Cryodivus (Angel of Ice), Fulminerus (Angel of Lightning), Silexops (Angel of Stone), and Aurumagnus (Angel of Gold). Pyrodeus was one of only two Warrior Angels to survive the battle between the Warrior Angels and Sons of Plunder, the other being Cryodivus.
Between the first and second appearances of the Sons of Plunder, Pyrodeus slept with an Etrahn woman named Tamina, impregnating her. Shortly after Pyrodeus' return to Heaven, Tamina gave birth to Visignis.

Prelude to Chaos: Pyrodeus was called down from Heaven to deal with the rising problem with Arius. After meeting with a warrior named Sollnia, Pyrodeus sought out an artifact known as the Sightless Eye. An artifact allowing its user to "see what the eye cannot see", Pyrodeus found it with the intention of using it to find the amulets wich Arius sought. He was later defeated, but not killed, in the fight with Arius before his entrapment within the Abyss.

Pyrodeus has recently completed Magres Xerfal successfully, ascending him to the level of a demigod. His abilities have increased exponentially, and while he can be defeated in battle he can only be truly killed with his own sword (an exceptionally difficult task, since he can make his sword disappear at will).

Broken Heaven: Not long after his recovery from his defat at Arius' hands, Pyrodeus sought a way to prevent such a defeat from happening again. With the help of Mathew, he successfully completed the angelic rite of deification known as Magres Xerfal, ascending him to the level of a demigod. His abilities were increased exponentially, and while he can be defeated in battle he can only be truly killed with his own sword (an exceptionally difficult task, since he can make his sword disappear at will). Pyrodeus was reunited with Visignis, his half-angel son conceived 8,000 years ago, and helped him unlock his latent powers. Not long after, Pyrodeus helped a warrior with two souls named Taelyrn gain control of his ability, and forged him a tai chi sword with a gem in the hilt for storing his unique soul energy.
