ADU Felina (Mira)

Physiology

Felina (or Mira, as is their name for themselves in their traditional language, Muorro), are a sentient, bipedal cat people. Felina vary widely in their builds, not unlike humans. They can be as short as four and a half feet, or as tall as six and a half or even seven feet. Some are stocky, some are more slender. All Felina, however, are remarkably agile and strong - physically stronger than most of the other races in the Dracounus. Though bipedal their legs still maintain the remnants of a quadraped as they walk up on their toes with knees slightly bent. Because of this they are fairly nimble when moving on all fours, and this especially helps in climbing, something all Felina children take every possible chance to do. Their coats are just as variable as their builds, reflecting all manner of striped, spotted, and dappled patterns in a vast range of earth tones. Felina take great pride in richness and beauty of their fur, and as such rarely wear clothing except in a functional sense, such as belts and harnesses. They do, however, enjoy accenting their fur with jewelry and other pieces of finery. But the goal is always to compliment, and not cover, their own natural coats.

Felina are a very combative, competitve people. Their bodies are highly optimized, with a metabolism that is far more efficient than most other races, and sleep cycles with unique qualities that make them far more restive and restorative than the average being's sleep. This gives them a seemingly unending amount of boisterous energy, a very un-feline quality. Researchers have surmised that the Felina's war-like culture made it advantageous to be in a consistent state of readiness, always prepared to fend off or commence an attack.

On occasion, a Felina will be born with a very basic and limited telepathic ability. At most they are able to detect the emotions or motivations of the people around them, and telekinetically manipulate a few small objects. Other than this, the Felina race has no magical/telepathical ability to speak of. However, they more than make up for it with advanced technologies.

Behavior

Felina history consists of a long line of warlords and warmongers, politicking and intrigue, daring adventures of risk and bravery. By the time they were discovered by universal society, they were a mutli-system empire. The Felina are an entire race of people living life on the edge - they are competitive, ambitious, and enjoy making bold moves and taking risks on a daily basis. They are shrewd, quick thinkers, combined with "jump right in" instinct. Though the first stages of induction into universal society were no doubt rough with the Felina, they were quick to reocgnize the advantages of learning from and working with other races, and soon entered into peaceful relations with the Dracounus at large.

The three most celebrated elements of Felina society are the government, the military, and the weapons/battle technology sector. The Felina government is a veritable maze of intricate political games, a challenge taken on by Felina politicians with great delight. The Felina military works both as a police force within the Felina nation, and cooperatively on a universal scale with the Dragons and the Gimshi. The military brass also organize and sponsor fighting tournaments wherever Felina are to be found, as everyone from the top government official to the merchant and the farmer enjoys participating in them during their free time. And yes, there are Felina farmers, for though agriculture is not necessarily a prided Felina cultural value, they still have to eat; even in peaceful times, the Felina are ever aware of what it takes to drive an army.

As mentioned above, the Felina posses a great deal of advanced technology, and are especially reknowned for their expertise when it comes to weapons design; this includes everything from knives and guns to combat motorbikes and space going warships. Most famous is the Felinid Company, the biggest and best of Felina production comanies. The company is named after its first and still most popular and sought after product - the Felinid Motorbike. This combat bike is peerless in the whole of the Dracounus; no self-respecting Miran Military unit goes without its Felinid team, and every Felina wishes they could have one of their own. However, weapons and ships are not the only things that Felina companies produce; again, though not lauded as their greatest achievement, Felina engineers are responsible for a good deal of the technology used in agricultural and domestic spheres across the Dracounus.

The Felinid Company, and many other Felina manufacturers, regularly collaborate with Spinner and Elven companies on projects large and small. Many people are of the opinion that if you desire complete perfection in a product, put a Felina, a Spinner, and an Elf together in a room - and nothing but the best of the best will come out of that room. The combined expertise of these three races has resulted in the most famous ships in the history of the Dracounus.
