Anubis arrived on Koholint to help Az, but became trapped on the island with him. Together they went a message to the YB to come and help. Soon Anubis senses that the YBs have arrived, and he goes to greet them at the beach. They learn from an owl that shadows have invaded the island, and that they need to open the giant egg on the mountain by finding eight instruments. On their way to the first, though, Anubis tells Az that he is the rightful leader of the YB, and that it's time for him to lead; Anubis leaves for him to begin his leadership duties.

As they try to gather the instruments, a coyote named Mermus appears trying to gather the instruments as well. After they got a couple instruments, Az obtained an ocarina in a village which he could use to play a song to keep Mermus away. However, at that moment it was reported that Mermus was attacking a village. They went to the village to stop him and found he was being helped by clones of the YBs, but during the fight it was revealed they were versions of them from an opposite universe. Asmodeus fights both his opposite version, Sudemosa, and Mermus, the opposite version of Summer, but is gravely injured before they flee when Sabuin arrives.

Az woke up later, his injuries mostly healed, and led the YBs to the mountaintop to kill Lord Farzar, who was the one inside the egg. When they entered, however, they found what appeared to be the Wind Fish; though it refused to let them leave at first, mild threats made it concede to them and release what appeared to be Winter and Asmodeus' father. Though Asmodeus bought into the sham, everyone else was able to convince him that it was a fake and the Wind Fish was really Farzar. Farzar then showed them a vision of Farzar killing Asmodeus II as he tried to save Az, making Az realize his father died for him.

The opposite-counterparts arrive to stop them, and though Asmodeus nearly kills Sudemosa so that he could be with his father, Anubis stops him they go to kill Farzar. Az and Anubis are able to kill Farzar, and they escape the island, meeting the real Wind Fish which sent them back to the real world.
