If you wish to go fishing, you must first have a fishing rod.

To fish, you must approach a body of water (whether river or ocean will affect which fish you catch) with the rod equipped and either press A or tap yourself (or the direction you wish to cast) on the touchscreen. If there is a fish in the area (symbolised by a darker patch moving in the water) it will hopefully spot the line and go after the bait (do not worry about baiting the rod, the rod is automatically baited every time you cast it and you never need to buy more). When the float disappears under the water and a "splosh" sound effect is heard, either hold down the A button or press and hold the touch screen. Battle between man and fish has begun! Assuming you held on, the fish will be pulled out of the water, you character will make a poor pun dependant on which fish you have caught, and then the fish will be in your inventory.
