Breakfast time
From Torg Adventure
When Jack walked into the kitchen, his mother handed him a plate with two pieces of peanut butter toast on it. "Here, kiddo. Milk's on the table."
"Thanks. I could have made that."
"Not and leave with Janet, you couldn't."
His twin walked in and poured herself a bowl of cereal. Her hair was in a wet ponytail.
"Eat fast, you have to leave in ten minutes." His mom turned back to the sink and began putting dishes in the dishwasher.
As Jack drank his milk, he thought he heard his mom say, "Man, Tom fucked my ass good this morning. It's still tingling." He choked, nearly spraying it in his sister's face.
"Are you okay, Jack? What's wrong?" his mom's concern was thick in her voice.
Once he stopped coughing, he said, "I'm okay, Mom. Just swallowed wrong."
He quickly finished his toast just as his sister finished her cereal.
"Okay, let's go," Janet said. It was her turn to drive, since they alternated who got to drive the extra car. Jack grabbed his backpack and headed out the door.
Their car was a twenty-year old silver Honda Civic that Dad used to drive. It got them to school and to parties. They each paid half the gas, insurance, and repairs. It wasn't much to look at, but they both loved it, because it gave them independence, even if it meant playing nice with their twin.
Jack hopped into the passenger side as Janet hit the driver's seat.
