This alternate Earth started in 1586, when Doctor John Dee, occult advisor to Queen Elizabeth I, contacted an angel, was taught its language (Enochian), and, with its help, perfected the [Elixir of Life|ElixirOfLife]], long sought by alchemists for hundreds of years. A weekly dose of this potion would arrest aging.

The good doctor took the potion himself, and shared his supply with his queen.
