Escapades is the name of a game that saw heavy use in the Summer of 2004, when playing basketball was a popular recreational activity. Usually, Escapades would take place when those uninterested in playing actual pick-up games made the suggestion. In essence, the game involves keeping a basketball in the air by batting at it with putbacks, taking turns for each individual in sequence. There aren't necessarily rules to the game, other than keeping the ball up with as many out-of-control shots as possible before a basket is made. Each "game" usually only lasts about 30 seconds, typically ending in uncontrollable giggling, exhaustion, or when the ball rolls away. Three to six participants are recommended.
Etymology
Kevin coined the term while playing the game with his brother and cousins sometime in the early 90s. It is unclear why "escapades" was chosen, but it seemed like an appropriate description for the whimsical, dancing motion of several men flying at a basketball hoop in sequence. According to Dictionary.com, "escapade" is a noun meaning "An adventurous, unconventional act or undertaking"[1].
