Nancy
From Torg Adventure
...your cousin Nancy. Given that your family and your Aunt's were so close, people just walked between the two houses as they wished. Everyone had keys to both houses, and during the day the kitchen doors were left unlocked. So it wasn't terribly surprising to see either Nancy or Gwen over here, or for you or Amy to be over there. Lisa and Sam never seemed to spend much time over at your Aunt's place, for their own reasons.
"Oh, her?" You glance over your shoulder at the closed door to Sam's room. "I may have annoyed her just a bit." Thinking about it makes you a little bit guilty.
Nancy wrinkles up her noise a little as she also looks at Sam's door. She jumps a little as she hears something hit the floor in Sam's room, followed by another yell from Sam. Sam's temper was fairly well known, although all of the women in your extended family could be hot-blooded, especially the redheads. "I was going to ask her something, but maybe it should wait until she's in a better mood." She turns back to you, a bubbly smile coming back onto her face. "But I need to ask you too, though, so that's okay."
"Ask me what?" You turn back to your oldest cousin. She's wearing a cute polka dot dress, the red dots matching her hair nicely. Despite her red hair, Nancy was probably the most even tempered girl in your family, and just generally all around nice, although she had her moments.
"Gwen is having another sleepover at our house," Nancy says, rolling her eyes a little. "Although I think she realizes that it's probably her last one. But she's really like all us kids to be there. Mom and Aunt Sandy will be spending the night here to give us some space, doing whatever it is when they get together, I guess."
Gwen liked to have sleepovers every few months, and had been doing so for a long time. You wondered once why she didn't do sleepovers with her friends, and found out it was because Aunt Karen wouldn't let her spend the night at any friend's house, because she was afraid there would be boys there. As a result, other girls wouldn't attend Gwen's sleepovers. So her extended family ended up taking the place of her classmates on her sleepovers, even as her peers grew out of having sleepover parties.
You had never missed one yet, and neither had Amy or Nancy. You had trouble saying no to your cute little cousin, and she seemed to be so thankful for your presence. Nancy was always there, presumably because she was the big sister. And Amy and Gwen were best friends, so Amy was a given as well. Sam was hit or miss. She used to attend a lot more often when they first started, but as she got older and martial arts consumed more and more of her life, she seemed to have less time for family and get togethers. Lisa very rarely attended from the start, largely because she seemed to always already have plans for the night, generally involving her own, more adult type of sleepover.
"Well, you can count on me, of course," you tell Nancy. "Amy too, I'm sure."
"Yeah, I know," Nancy says smiling. "I was hoping though that I could get Sam and maybe even Lisa to come also. This could be the last one, and I know Gwen would appreciate it so much. She's already so excited about it."
"Sam could be a tough sell," you think aloud. "And Lisa even more so." You hear that sound coming from Sam's room again, that you now have learned to understand is her doing push-ups. Maybe that will let her burn off some energy and emotion. "Now might not be a good time to talk to Sam, though."
"I'm really hoping they say yes, for Gwen's sake," Nancy says hopefully. "I guess I'll go ask Lisa first. Maybe Sam will have cooled down some by the time I've talked to her sister. And I can stop in and check on Amy, just to make sure." She looks at you then. "Unless... you think you could convince Sam and Lisa to make it tonight? They are your sisters, after all. I don't really hang around with them all that much, and you might have better luck than me."
